The NIght Before Christmas

It's 2:15 am here in my home. It is a clear night, about 15 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. The eight inches of snow is sparkling like little diamonds and all is quiet, with one exception. The wonderful percussive tune on my local Public Radio Station. What is the tune that is playing you ask? "The Little Drummer Boy" from Diana Reeves Christmas album. How appropriate. I barbequed the ribs, I fried the chicken wings, I made the bbq sauce, I made the potato salad, and yes I even made Sweet potato pies. The family is all snug in their beds. One candle is lit, and wonderful guitar jazz is playing in the wee hours of the morning before I retire. Some of the best brush work that I have ever heard seems to fit the mood. I'm wondering about the year to come and thinking about all of the new friends that I have made here. I'm reflecting on just how blessed all us of are to be able to share our love for our instrument and great musicianship. I think of Paul DeLong, Peter C., Rudy, Steve, Louie, and Randy. You guys have touched my life, not just as a musician, but as a man. I have never met any of you, yet I feel like we have known one another for many years. With all of my heart (I forgot to mention Erskoman my alumn, and last but not least LADanny) I just want to thank you for everything that you fine musicians have contributed to me as a lover of this instrument that we share. "Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. But the pocket pulse beats in this house". Merry Christmas and may God continue to bless each and everyone of you as you share your passion for music and this instrument. PT.
